Tribute to my Daughter Sister Hilary Hendricks

Serving at a food kitchen.
Soon Hilary will be home. She has served 18 months in the Korea Seoul South Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I can't believe it's been 18 months since she left and since we have seen her. I knew this time would come and it's crazy it's finally here. I wanted to put together some of the pictures she has sent us in a tribute to her.
Me and Rick will have the privilege of going to Seoul to pick her up and do some touring. Going to the DMZ too. That will be an adventure for sure.
To Hilary's Korean, Russian, and African friends who may be seeing my blog we look forward to meeting you! We can't wait for this adventure and wonderful opportunity to experience a little of what Hilary has been experiencing all these many months. We are so excited. I have been preparing for this for quite some time. There has been so much to do for a trip like this. I'm just not looking forward to flying over 12 hours, especially since the Malaysia plane went missing.
When we land back in Salt Lake City we will be met by our entire family along with my sister, my elderly dad, and several of Hilary's close friends. It will be such a joyous time. I know all will be well. Our family has been greatly blessed during her mission. God has taken great care of her and us. I have felt His strength and love more than any other time in my life. He truly blesses those who put Him first. I have experienced that first hand. My faith has increased more than ever before. I feel His peace and love everyday. Sending a child on a mission and financially supporting them is not a sacrifice it is a privilege and an eternal gift. You can't put a price on it. I'm so thankful we have been able to do it.
I want to share a cool thing. My dad was with us the day we dropped Hilary off at the MTC (Missionary Training Center) in Provo, Ut back in Sept 2012. One of the last things Hilary said was to her grandpa Don. She said, "Grandpa, I expect to see you at my homecoming in 18 months." My dad has been through a lot health wise and has lost the ability to drive and to live alone. He is living with my sister in the Bay Area now. But I feel he is still here to honor that request. It will be a miracle when this reunion takes place in just a few weeks. He was also amazed that she was called to serve in Korea. A place my dad knows from his service in the Korean war. I love how the Lord works. He knows us and knows what will transpire throughout our lives. I see His hand in all of this. My testimony has grown more than ever. I love the tender mercies of the Lord in our lives!!! I have so much to be grateful for.

I'm a little concerned about having to sit on the floor. It won't be graceful that's for sure. I've been doing some stretching trying to be more limber. But that may not be the worst of my problems, Hilary told me that I may have a problem with the spicy food. I don't do spicy. I googled Subway Sandwiches, there are a lot in Seoul, so I should be okay...lol. And of course they have McDonalds.

Show for the tourists.

Looking forward to going to the Seoul, LDS Temple!

She got to play basketball on her days off.
