My Missionary Daughter

Just before Hilary left her sister Cordie took these pictures of her at the Logan, Ut Temple

Hilary is my baby.

Hilary makes a beautiful missionary.

We had a get together and luncheon with family and friends at the house last Sunday for Hilary's Farewell.  She had several friends that had to travel a long way to be here to listen to her speak at church that morning. The week before she had a couple of friends come stay with us from Astoria, Oregon so they could see her before she left.

Showing their silly side. These two boys she met while they were on their mission in Coos Bay, Oregon, while Hilary was attending college there.

Good bye hug.
Hilary's college roommate Erica and their friend.

Posing in front of the Provo Temple just before dropping Hilary off at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Ut, Wednesday, 19, 2012.  It was a bitter sweet moment on such a beautiful day.
We won't see her until we pick her up in Deajeon, Korea in 18 months. I'm already missing her terribly. It was harder than I thought it would be. But we are so proud of such a devoted and upstanding daughter so worthy of serving the Lord. She will be a wonderful ambassador for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints.

The Whole Family

The whole family was here for Hilary's Farewell. She entered the Missionary Training Center September 19, 2012. She will be serving in the Deajeon Korean mission for 18 months. It is a miracle that my dad was here too, he gave us a scare less than two months ago. We certainly didn't think he would be able to walk again let alone drive to Idaho from California.

My sister Karen was also able to make it here too, but she was taking all the family pictures.
Martin, Kelsey, Lea, Jeff, Hilary, Jennifer, Rick, Michael holding Will, Cordie, and my dad, Don.
In front: Madi, Gracie, Olivia, and Ian.

Thanks Karen for taking the family pictures. It was actually just a quick impromptu to do it. We took them at our son-in-law Michael's parents house. Thanks to them too.
My girls; Hilary, Kelsey, Lea, and Cordie

I can't think of anything that's much better than the grand kids. I'm so proud of them.

White Water Rafting on the Snake River

Hilary and Kelsey getting ready to get on the bus to head to the Snake River from Jackson Hole, Wy.
The old couple, mom and dad along for the fun too.
Just about to hit the big Kahuna. The biggest rapid on the river. Rick and I are on the left, second, and third person. Hilary and Kelsey are on the right, second, and third person.
YEAH! So much fun.
Holding on!
Is everyone paddling? The two front people were supposed to be the paddle masters, they did a terrible job as you can see. Everyone else did most of the work.
Where's the front of the raft? It's a wonder it stays afloat.
We went on August 15. We got our tickets for half off. It was a great deal. This is the second time Rick and I have done this, Hilary's done it three times, and this was Kelsey's first time. The water was 60 degrees and actually a lot warmer than the usual 40 degrees. When we were in slower moving water I got to jump in. It took my breath away. But I've always wanted to do that. I was the only one on our raft and all the other rafts too, brave enough or stupid enough to do it :)
After getting back to Jackson Hole and having dinner, the girls wanted to show their heritage and have their old time photos taken. It was a lot of fun watching them do this. Jackson Hole is always a good idea. It is only a couple hours to get there. One of the great things to living in Southeast Idaho. We live relatively close to the Tetons and Yellowstone.
Beautiful Shoshone Indian maidens. I wouldn't want to run into them on the trail.
