Will Is 9 Months

Our newest grandchild William is now 9 months old. Cordie and her family have recently moved back here from Florida. Until Michael takes the bar exam at the end of July they will be staying with us, his parents house, or at their condo in Logan, Ut. Its been so nice to have our grandchildren around. Oh, and Cordie and Mike too.

Meeting my sister-in-law and niece for the first time.

My 10 month old niece Bianca, Letty, and Phil outside the Hotel California Restaurant and Cantina after having Mother's Day brunch. My sister Karen recently started working there in management. This was their grand opening weekend. The owner is a good friend of my brother and he treated us to a fabulous buffet/brunch. Inside the restaurant; Letty, Karen, and me.
The whole group. My mom,and Tom on the left. In the back sitting; Phil, Bianca, Letty, me, Karen, and Rick. Standing is the owner Jimmy and a waitress. Dinner at the Bellagio Cafe. Phil and Letty live in La Paz, Mexico so it took awhile to finally get everyone together. Rick, Bianca, Letty and me outside the Bellagio Cafe. It is always so beautiful there. The Bellagio is my favorite place to visit when in Vegas.
Bianco is so precious and charming. We got along great. It was great to finally meet her.
We decided to go to Fremont street. We haven't been there in many years. They were just finishing up the annual Elvis competition. Pretty entertaining.
Of course we had to see the canopy lighted show. That's always cool.

Proud of Our Son-in-Law

Michael and his very proud parents, Nancy and John.
Proud graduate with his beautiful children.
Olivia has her daddy wrapped around her finger.
Our daughter is so proud of her husband.
The wives of law school graduates shouldn't be discredited, they sacrificed so much and supported their husbands for over 7 years of schooling; not to mention having kids and being alone while their husbands were off studying many days and nights. Congratulations to you both, Cordie and Michael!

My Galvaston Trip

A couple of weeks ago I went to Houston/Galvaston Island for my childhood friend Rhonda's big 50th birthday celebration. Her family moved in across the street from me when we were 3 or 4 years old. In this picture from right to left is me, Rhonda, Rhonda's sister Sheryl, and her friend Vickie.
Rhonda's boss and co-worker's rented this historic 103 year old house on Galvaston Island for the celebration.
Rhonda coming down the stairs as she was surprised with some fun gifts.
Her sister had a shirt made with her baby picture on it. She also had stickers for all of us to wear of the same picture. Sheryl also had a collage of pictures of Rhonda made; and she had visors for the whole group to wear in honor of Rhonda's special day
Visiting.
Getting ready to walk to downtown Galvaston to celebrate.
Walking downtown towards the tall building.
Along the walk was this reminder on this building of how high the waterline was from Hurricane Ike on September 13, 2008.
Some homes damaged by Ike.
Downtown stores.
Some of the sights of the harbor.
A couple of playful dolphins I got a good shot of.
Oil rig in for repairs.
My moon shot during my evening walk. Random shots during my walk. Not exactly Miami Beach but it's all Texas has.The following pictures are of the devasting damage done to this hotel and pier caused by Ike that is under construction.
The whole city had to be raised between 4 to 6 ft during the lengthy consruction for the seawall to be built.
This pier was completely destoyed.A few pilings is all that is left of it.During Hurricane Ike, several bodies from this cemetery floated up from the ground. Creepy.Historic Bishop's Palace.Galvaston has several amazing mansions.Downtown memorial representing four wars; American Revolution, Texas Mexican War, Spanish American War and the Civil War. Galvaston is a very old and interesting place; rich in history. I'm glad I was able to experience this place.
