Grand Teton National Park

The first day we went on a 3 mile hike to Phelps Lake.

On the way back we spotted this black bear eating berries. He paid no attention to us at all. We watched him for quite awhile too.

Beautiful moon coming up.
Day two; We decided to take a different trail. You can see the top of Grand Teton Peak in this picture.
This was an amazing trail. We walked along side of a rushing river then you get this fabulous view of the the Tetons.
Time to cool my feet off in cold mountain water. I would of swam if I had a towel and a change of clothes. There was a group of college girls swimming. I was jealous. This is Taggart Lake.
A bridge going accross Bradley Lake. We probably hiked about 5 miles to these two lakes. It was a great time. We want to go back next month and hike it again. It is our favorite trail. We recommend it to everyone.

Ian & Olivia

Ian's first day of Kindergarten was this week. He will be 6 years old next month. I can't believe my oldest grandchild is in school all day now.
Ian wanted his mom to make him a baseball card, so she did. It's awesome.
Olivia is such a girl, she loves her baby and Cordie was able to capture candid pictures of her. In just a couple of days she'll get to play with her real baby brother!

Winchester Mystery House

Front of the house.

Front door, which was only used a couple of times.

Back of the house and the gardens.

I've always been intrigued with the history of this odd house and the heir of the Winchester Rifle fortune, Sarah Winchester. For 38 years construction on it never ceased until Sarah's death in 1922. It has 160 rooms. It certainly was fascinating to tour inside and out. It's located in San Jose, Ca.

Monterey, CA

A buck casually walking while we drove through 17-mile drive on the Monterey peninsula. Below is the famous "Lone Cypress Tree".
We love going to Aquariums. We've been to many different ones throughout the years, so we had to see this one too. Of course we always drive on the famous 17-mile drive. It's so spectacular.

Solvang, CA

The quaint Danish Motel we stayed at.

Solvang is about 30 miles NW of Santa Barbara. It is the Danish Capital of America. Settled in 1911 by Danish educators. It has the Old World architectural style of a Danish village. It is so beautiful and the people are so friendly. We even sampled the famous AEBLESKIVER. We loved our stay there. I want to kom snart (come back) someday.

US Open of Surfing, Huntington Beach, CA

We just happened to be at Huntington Beach where the annual US Open Surfing event takes place. It is the largest surfing competition in the world with a men's purse of $300,000. It was great to be there. It was so lively and exciting with all the different venues of competitions, stores, and live music. It is a 9 day event. Aug 8, is the last day. We were there on the first day.

View from the pier. So many venues.
It was like a little city.
I got some good shots with my cheap travel camera.

Getting the skateboard venue ready.
Growing up in Southern California Huntington Beach was my favorite beach. It's where I swam and surfed. Jack's surfboard shop was a popular hangout, it used to be an old building with apartments above it. Main St. has all been redone.
New and improved.
