Ronald Reagan Library

My dad, me and Rick in front of Ronnie.
A piece of the Berlin Wall.
President Reagan's resting place. He died on Rick's birthday.

This is a special exhibit featuring the White House Miniature, an authentic recreation of the White House measuring 50 feet long and 18 feet wide: a one-foot-to-one-inch scale. Taking over 600,000 hours of labor to create, it's an amazing replica, from the Lincoln bedroom to the Oval Office to tiny, working televisions to hand-carved chairs, paintings, tables and crystal chandeliers. Created by the Zweifel family, and first exhibited in 1979. It has been seen by over 42 million Americans and has been displayed throughout the world. It was truly remarkable to see. Click on any of the photos to enlarge.
This is a life size replica of the Oval office the way it looked when Reagan was in office. Oh, the good ole days.
This pitcher and try set are made of pure gold and platinum given as a gift to Reagan by the King of Saudi Arabia. Of course he didn't keep it for himself or else he would of had to pay the government what it was worth, therefore, it became the property of the United States.
Air force One used during his presidency. It was smaller than I thought it would be. It was fascinating to walk through it and see how our Commander-in-chief operated from the air.
Reagan's library is in Simi Valley, Ca. Just a few miles away is Moorpark where my grandmother(on my dad's side)lived in this house in her latter years. As kids we explored all over the hills behind her house. Now there are houses on those hills. I haven't been to see this house since she died in 1975. It was an old house back then I was surprised it was still there and in fairly good shape. It was special to see it again and relive some fond memories.
